Quark-Nuclear Physics

Welcome

Our interest ranges from the microscopic world where quarks form atomic nuclei to the macroscopic world like stars in the universe, and we study various phenomena with the keyword being "nuclear physics based on quantum chromodynamics." At the most microscopic scale, we investigate the mechanism of how quarks, when confined and chiral symmetry spontaneously breaks, form hadrons such as protons and neutrons. We also attempt to understand the mechanism of how protons and neutrons, with Dr. Yukawa's pions as a key, shape atomic nuclei and generate a rich variety of structures. From these microscopic standpoints, we aim to elucidate the composition of elements by nuclear reaction theories, seeking to unravel how we came into existence from galaxies. We tackle these challenges using various theoretical methods, including numerical analysis on major supercomputers such as the Fugaku computer and those at Osaka University. Furthermore, we emphasize collaboration with experimental research, working in cooperation with groups utilizing the cyclotron accelerator at the RCNP, the laser-electron facility at SPring-8, as well as groups active at the RIKEN RIBF and J-PARC facilities.
